Research

Define

Ideate

Prototype

User Flow vs. User Journey
User flow and user journey are tools used to describe your product’s story from your user’s perspective. While often used interchangeably, these concepts focus on different aspects of a design.
The user journey maps out the visual journey of your user across the website or app. It offers a big-picture view of your user’s interaction with your product, taking into account not only the steps a user takes to get to the desired action but also their emotions, their challenges and their wins. Overall, the user journey visualizes the relationship between your users and your product across different channels.
User flow focuses on your user’s movement and how they navigate across your website or app, outlining the series of steps they take from entry (e.g. home page) down to conversion (e.g. sign up, donate, etc.) The user flow is typically broken down into individual steps, and this allows us to effectively move them towards a specific action during the flow.
